Fisher Adams Kelly has been named Australian ‘IP Prosecution Firm of the Year’ at the global IP industry’s most prestigious award night. Principal Dr Mark Horsburgh travelled to London to attend the gala ceremony and accept the award at the Intercontinental Hotel, Park Lane on March 11 2015. The ‘Prosecution’ category covers all of the work specific to patent and trade mark attorneys; drafting and filing of both local and foreign originating patent, trade mark and design applications, and guiding them through the examination process to grant or registration.
Managing Intellectual Property is one of the world’s leading intellectual property magazines and information sources, operating since 1990. Since their inception in 2006, the Managing IP Global Awards have established their position in the market as the yardstick for recognition of the firms behind the most innovative and challenging IP work of the past year. The winners are chosen by Managing IP’s team of editors and researchers, and are based on the extensive independent research conducted by the publication in putting together its annual World IP Survey. This research takes input from IP holders, users of the IP system, and other IP firms as well as market data to judge professional expertise, service quality, and contribution to the industry in each year.
2014 saw Fisher Adams Kelly work with some of the world’s best known global brands in consumer electronics, pharmaceuticals, and food and drink among other sectors. The company had considerable success in prosecuting patent applications in challenging areas such as computer implemented business methods and genetic material, and was increasingly involved in successfully upholding our clients’ rights in court. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the clients, associates and friends of our company for their on-going support, and especially any of our clients who took part in Managing IP’s Survey for their feedback.
Dr Horsburgh said from London “We are always humbled by the trust placed in us by our clients across Australia and around the world and we feel keenly our responsibility to achieve the best possible protection for their critical IP assets. We are pleased that our success for our clients has been recognised by this award, and we hope to have the opportunity to achieve even more through 2015 and beyond.”
Fisher Adams Kelly is the first firm originally founded in Brisbane to win the award, and the first which started trading in the 20th century. During its 30 year history the company has expanded to achieve genuinely national coverage with offices in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as a portfolio of clients and associates in more than 50 countries world wide.
