We are delighted to announce that Fisher Adams Kelly Principal Adam Luxton has been elected to the Council of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA). IPTA is ‘the peak professional body representing Australian patent and trademark attorneys’ and has more than 850 members. The Institute promotes improvements in intellectual property laws and regulations in Australia, frames and establishes a code of ethics for attorneys, and promotes training and education. The Institute Council is made up of 14 current Fellows of IPTA and manages the affairs of the Institute.
Adam has 12 years experience as a patent and trade marks attorney, and as a younger Fellow of IPTA, looks forward to making a long term commitment to the organisation, and helping to secure a strong and sustainable professional body into the future. Adam’s particular priorities on the Council will be ensuring that the diversity of challenges facing the profession in different regions of Australia are represented, and supporting IPTA’s direct role in informing the development of public policy regarding IP in Australia.
Adam said of the election “I am honoured and excited by this opportunity to contribute to the on-going success of our profession. I look forward to listening to my fellow members in Queensland and throughout Australia and helping to communicate their concerns and suggestions at a national level.”
