Filing requirements

Patent applications

To secure a filing date on your behalf, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Please email us a copy of your patent specifications including description and drawings (where possible) to one of our Principals or to our general email address – see links at the bottom of this page
  2. Provide us with the full name and address of all applicants including nationality and (if relevant) State of Incorporation
  3. Please also provide details of any priority claim, including the filing country and filing date and preferably the serial number
  4. Please provide all information in English, or verified translations of any information that is not in English
  5. We will confirm receipt of this information within 24 hours (next business day) and commence proceedings which can include seeking additional information and arranging for documentation to be signed.

Trade mark applications

  1. Representation of the trade mark.
  2. Full name and address of the applicant.
  3. Particulars of basic application(s) (if convention priority is claimed).
  4. Statement of goods and/or services for which registration is sought, and international class(es), if known.
  5. Multi-class trade mark applications are permitted. The goods and/or services should be grouped into the appropriate classes and listed in the order of their class numbers.
  6. Expressions such as “all goods” or “all services in the class”, or “all other goods” or “all other services” should not be used in the statement of goods and/or services.
  7. If the trade mark contains or consists of a 3-dimensional shape, the representation of the trade mark must include a perspective view showing each feature of the trade mark, or such views as are necessary to show each feature of the trade mark.
  8. If the trade mark contains or consists of a colour, scent, sound or an aspect of packaging, a concise and accurate description of the trade mark must be included in the application.
  9. If the mark includes words of a language other than English, a translation into English should be provided.
  10. If the mark includes non-roman characters, a transliteration of the characters into roman letters and a translation into English should be provided.

  3. Please also provide details of any priority claim, including the filing country and filing date and preferably the serial number
  4. Please provide all information in English, or verified translations of any information that is not in English
